Fred posted this somewhere, but I'm too lazy to find it. Someone tell us what time we're supposed to be in the parking lot and...............who's in?

I plan on showing up, this will be my very first night ride. The site has the ride time posted from 7-9 pm. So I would think anybody who is coming should be there no later than 6:45

So they are finally allowing you all to have a night ride at Harbins? That will be a lot of fun. If I can convince the wife, I'll try to make it out.

What's this trail like (climbs, technical features, etc) and is it an open invite for the night ride?

Its an open invite but there are a few 'rules' to obey - we are permitted to ride till 10pm. That means back and cars and ready to be leaving within a few minutes of that time. We dont split off and do solo exploring. We ride as a group and if numbers allow will split into a couple of groups by pace/ability. The county is granting special permission so we dont want to have someone off lost, hurt, etc on their own. We dont want to abuse the privilege adn rdie till sun up (as much as we may want to).

Nah, twas okay. I was just kinda laughing bcuz I'm one of the last people who wants to split off from the group and do solo exploring on a night ride...on an unfamiliar trail. I darn sure don't wanna do that and end up hurt (and believe me, I've got getting hurt down pat)...and as much as I like riding, this is not the time of year I'd entertain doing it until sunup. :D

Thx again for the info. Hope I can make it. Depends on how long my last appt of the day takes.

Just a little tip...if you don't have a light and want to buy one for the season I'd recommend one of the helmet mounted kind...it's kinda like a light saber mounted to your head and much better in my opinion if you're only going to have one light. I use mine all the time (been riding at 5:30am at stn mtn just about every day and also hit trails in the evenings). They are a little harder to find in the stores it seems, but it's really the way to go if you're only springing for one light.

Just thought I'd throw that in as we're prepping for the first real night ride of the fall.

I did a quick sweep of all the trails this evening except for MB4 to cut back any eye piercing vines and also to cut down to the ground 3 small stumps in various places that have remained in the middle of the trail on MB3. I knew where they where and when to avoid them, but I could just see someone on Friday night hitting one, and going over there bars. We have had 2 Gatrs seriously injured recently, don't need to have another one go down

Also an FYI to elaborate on unauthorized night riding at Harbins. I got out of the woods at 6:10 pm. There where 2 county police cars waiting on the last of any body in the park to leave. So they are keeping a eye out on the place. Dont be stupid and try to ride there after dark. You will get caught, and we will all pay for it in the end.

You know. I rode there Sunday for the first time in 4 months. I can't figure out why a work party is needed there. There are definitely more pressing issues at Tribble Mill. About three low spots and that's about it. They are wide open. That said, I hope a couple people will want to take the paved path down to MB4. I would like to do 2-3 laps down there versus hitting all the other trails. Nothing personal, but MB4 rocks.
