FYI for those of you that like to ride at Berry here are the hunt dates and area restrictions:

Here is the info on where you can go which is basically on the paved
roads and trails of the main and mountain campus.

Deer Firearms Season
There are three scheduled firearms deer hunts on the Berry College
Wildlife Management Area during the 2009-10 academic year. These are
quota hunts, and hunters must be registered in advance to take part.
Information is as follows:

Buck Only (either sex the last two days) & Bear: Nov. 4-7
Either Sex & Bear: Dec. 2-5
Either Sex: Jan. 16-18, 2010
All gates into the wildlife management area will be open the day before
each hunt for scouting.

During these hunts only permitted hunters will be allowed on the
Wildlife Management Area. All other activity is PROHIBITED. This
includes jogging, bicycling, etc.

All interior gated roads and/or trails leading from the main or mountain
campuses onto Berry's Wildlife Management Area will take you into the
hunting areas. These areas will be posted with warning signs by the
Georgia Department of Natural Resources. It is very important that you
pay close attention to the hunting dates and stay clear of the hunting
areas.

The main campus and the mountain campus are protected by a buffer zone
which is called the Berry College Refuge. Hunters are not allowed inside
the Refuge Area (Buffer Zone).

No weapon of any type is allowed on the Refuge Area. Hunters may not
access the Wildlife Management Area from campus.

I am not sure about the times. I will have to ask. This email info was sent to our bike club and I posted it for you out-of-town guys.

Having worked these hunts with DNR when I was at Shorter, don't think for a minute that you won't see hunters on the refuge, despite what the rules say. Also, unless they've recently specified times and are locking the gates in between, there's likely to be guys in the woods all day.
